On the recent 'Muslim attacks atheist' case.
Am I the only one who didn’t even believe this case was thrown out? I was sure this was something from the Onion, or something from a third world nation, but certainly not from my own state of Pennsylvania.  I could maybe expect this in England, their policies regarding multiculturalism aren’t exactly in the Western man’s interest, but America? What ever happened to free speech?...

This crippling boredom waiting for the new episode...
Let’s assume it’s several weeks or months after a zombie outbreak. A significant portion of the population is dead and the urban areas are overrun or burning. Standard zombie rules apply, so anyone who dies turns and a bite is 100% lethal. Here are some questions: 1. How do you treat the infected? I think it’s fair to say that zombies have no rights. They are walking corpses...

Basic libertarian punishment theory.
It’s simply this: the victim of a crime may justly commit a proportional act against the criminal. If a person kills someone, the victim (family or friend of the murdered individual) may kill him. If a person assaults another, they may be physically punished (with whips, shocks, etc.). If a person rapes someone, they may be molested (or just physically punished). And if a person steals from...

I can't recommend The 10,000 Year Explosion more.
It’s essentially the hereditarian’s response to Guns, Germs, and Steel. I’m almost finished with it, and it’s been one of the most amazing books I’ve ever read. I’m especially amazed it got widely published, usually literature with racialist implications are blacklisted.

Consistency has utilitarian benefit. Deontology...
There’s a reason law tends toward consistency, even absent a strong central state. People act with certain preconceived rules in mind and stability reduces internal conflict.

Europeans in the Americas, weren't they genocidal...
But wasn’t Spanish oppression of the Amerindians the main factor reducing their numbers? We think not. Of course, the Spanish did oppress the Amerindians, but they were hoping to become the new lords of those lands, rather than farming the land themselves. Lords need serfs—live serfs. Spanish demands for labor and food must have made the situation worse, but depopulation raced far ahead of...

People used to be ashamed to be poor.
When my grandparents were younger, things were different. Everyone would attempt to present themselves in nice clothing and well grooming, they would keep their homes tidy, they would be frugal with their money, and above all they would feel embarrassed to ask for money. People were ashamed to present themselves as poor, charities were only for the truly needy and everyone else would work harder....

Got some books today.
Finally got The Bell Curve and The Selfish Gene. I’m familiar with the research and the arguments, as well as read other books on the same topics, but I never actually read these books. I think I’ll read Dawkins’ book first.

"Race doesn't matter." An example.
A simple example of where race should be taken into consideration, but currently is not allowed, is in prison. If we have prisons, they should racially segregate their prisoners. Everyone sees the high level of interracial violence in prison, so I find it strange anyone could possibly object to lessening it.

Kinda old, but reading it make be giddy. One of my favorite people (Mr. Taylor) speaking positively about another one of my favorite people (Hoppe).  Almost all libertarians (with the exception of the heroic Von Mises Institute) want open borders because they think border control is just one more tyrannical act of government. Hans-Hermann Hoppe, a libertarian who teaches economics at University...

Paleolibertarianism.
Lew Rockwell used the term before, but he dropped it’s usage a little bit ago. I’m trying to make this term popular to distinguish us from other libertarians. It refers to a right leaning libertarianism found quite a bit in America, some issues where we differ are as follows.  On cultural issues we might agree generally. Prostitution, drugs and other victimless activities should...

How can anyone oppose organ sales?
My organs are mine. When I die, my body goes to whoever I wish or whoever inherits it under the law (spouse or children). If my body, and organs inside, are mine, then it’s my choice what I do with it. If I want to make a few bucks by selling my kidney, or my offspring wish to settle some debts by selling my unused organs after I die, then damn anyone who interferes. Let’s also not...

Trying to figure out what I want to do.
I think it’s fair to say I’m a pretty smart guy and I do enjoy certain science. I’ve had a pretty bad anxiety problem for a while, so my few years at college and intellectual experience has been complicated. I simply don’t know what I enjoy the most and what I wish to pursue.  I did two years of engineering, but that was almost accidental. I was pressured into going to...

Nothing makes you a minarchist faster than talking...
I am not a minarchist, I still believe statelessness is the most preferable structure for social order. but talking to anarchists does more to discourage that position than all the statist arguments combined.

Finally going to a therapist.
Had my physical today. Got the basic “you fat fuck, lose the weight before you die” bit (paraphrasing). I got some meds for my high blood pressure and anxiety/depression. I also gotta get some blood work, they’re worried about some possible diabeetus. But then there’s the good part, I finally got a meeting with a therapist. No idea what to expect, and from what I hear the...

I’m already starting to panic. It’s a simple physical, but I just can’t help but be nervous. I hate meeting strangers and especially when it’s going to embarrass me. I’m really fat and I’m ashamed of my overall health, I hate when doctors give me that look that implies they think I’m a retard. I’m also going to try and mention my mental issues to see...

My view of justice.
Justice is basically about righting wrongs. There are multiple perspectives humans have taken on the issue, they are such: Retribution: This is the perspective that punishment must follow from breach of orderly/just action. Execution of murderers, expropriation of property or public humiliations may qualify.  Deterrence: This is more of a utilitarian look at justice. The actions in response to...

Am I the only person who does not drink alcohol?
I turned 21 a few weeks ago, but nothing happened. Didn’t have the slightest urge to drink, not even a drop. I find the taste of alcohol disgusting and I highly disagree with the use of any non-medical psychotropic. I don’t even like eating foods that have a lingering taste of alcohol used somewhere in the cooking process.

This would be very unfortunate, but not that unexpected. My older brother got his GED, but that’s because he was a punk and made lots of bad decisions. I passed, but recently dropped out of college due to personal issues. My little brother is having issues too. He has refused to go to school for over a week now. The thing is, he has worse social anxiety and depression than I do. I had the...

Justice in the Cardassian Union
Cardassians gave their first molar to the Bureau of Identification at age ten. Cardassian society had the most rigid and, to the Federation, incomprehensible of all legal systems. Every suspect was guilty before even appearing in court, their sentence already spelled out – almost always either death or imprisonment in a harsh labor camp. The criminal was given a Conservator, equivalent to a...

Trouble with the abortion issue.
Here’s my problem. Abortion isn’t that big of an issue. It doesn’t really have that much of an impact on my overall philosophy, and I’m not too sure of the pragmatic importance. But I feel abortion is murder. The killing of an innocent human being out of convenience or even anger is something I can’t tolerate. I legitimately feel any person who performs an abortion is...
